Are you still relying on the outdated method of rotating heavy coils with a crane? If so the opportunity to save money and improve safety is sure to turn your head…

Coil Turnover Rigs are the safe, cost effective, modern alternative to the crane. Coil Turnover Rigs have the capability to turn coils 90 degrees from horizontal to vertical or vice versa. Turnover Rigs allow the coil to be attached to the rig and rotated 90 degrees. The Coil Turnover Rig’s motor gently and safely spins the coils.

A Coil Turnover Rig from Premitec can be used in many industries. They have been adapted to rotate heavy duty items such as wind turbine assemblies and electrical generators.

Those brain cogs are constantly spinning with the ongoing challenge of SMED aren’t they? Don’t go round in circles; a Coil Turnover Rig from Premitec will be a revolution with regards to your business profitability…! Contact Premitec NOW on 0845 0066 210.

In the interests of business profitability, it is without great sadness that we wish to announce the long overdue death of the Coil Cradle..!

Coil Carriers / Coil Carts have the capacity to transport coils up to 30 tonnes! Coil Carriers / Coil Carts raise the coil and load it directly onto the decoiler mandrel, thereby making the Coil Cradle redundant and consigning it to the equipment grave yard. By removing the “V” fabrication mounted on the front of the unit, a Coil Carrier / Coil Cart doubles up to be a Coil Carrier and Die Cart in one!

Coil Carriers / Coil Carts bring with them a number of advantages over and above the traditional method of tool transportation via crane or fork truck. Coil Carriers / Coil Carts are far cheaper and more versatile, with the ability to travel in and out of different rooms / areas. The Coil Carrier / Coil Cart resulting in the passing away of the Coil Cradle increases valuable space in the press shop too, so we’ re certain you’ll be glad to see the Coil Cradle dead and buried!

With SMED in mind, RIP the Coil Cradle! Contact Premitec NOW on 0845 0066 210 and let a Coil Carrier / Coil Cart breathe new life into your efficiency with reduced costs, increased uptime and more space. It’s your funeral if you don’t..!

The traditional method of splitting tools is with cranes. This approach to tool separation of press shop equipment is notoriously slow and dangerous. In fact, a tool maker in the midlands was recently killed using this out dated tool splitting method.

A Die Splitter from Premitec will enable you to access your tool “treasure” quickly and safely. Tool Splitters don’t only exist in fairy tales, they are a reality, though still certain to make your eyes light up with their uptime benefits! With a Tool Separator, one engineer will be able to split press tools, service, maintain, repair and clean them! By splitting the top and bottom tools and the tool turn over rig allowing unrestricted access to all sides of the tool, maintenance of tools up to 40 tonnes is simple. Using a Die Splitter, “bedding in” is easier for the tool maker with a perfectly vertical raise and lower of the tool. In contrast, using a crane for tool separation often causes the top tool to “crab”, which usually results in damage. Specific plastic mould splitters are available to the plastic injection moulding industry.

Die splitters from Premitec aren’t a SMED fantasy. Tool Splitters are the “jewel in the crown” of efficient, safe tool maintenance, bringing with them a chain of benefits including reduced risk of tool damage, minimised down time and lower manpower requirements. Mark a Die Splitter on your treasure map to increased profit and Contact Premitec NOW on 0845 0066 210.

What’s the best route to effortlessly raise and move large heavy tools? Premitec has a unique, innovative answer… With a Pneumatic Die Lifter / Die Roller you won’t need to break your back, or the bank!

Most conventional Die Lifters are problematic and have reached a dead end in terms of SMED. Spring loaded Die Lifters often stick in the down position and so are ineffective. Hydraulic Die Lifters are expensive, yet are difficult to fit and can be easily damaged. The resulting red light and emergency “road works” are likely to cause serious down time!

In contrast, Premitec Pneumatic Die Lifters / Die Rollers are a smooth ride. Pneumatic Die Lifters are quick and simple to fit and compressed air supplies in 99% of all press shops can be used. “Stop. Look. Listen” as the Green Cross Code demands – Pneumatic Die Lifters bring with them Health & Safety bonuses, as due to the large diameter bearings, the operator is able to comfortably move a tool up to 4,000kg in and out of the press. The light weight yet strong aluminium construction of Pneumatic Die Lifters enables them to be easily transported between presses and applications.

Versatile Pneumatic Die Lifters can be manufactured with rollers or balls according to your requirements. Rollers / bearings move tools in one linear direction (left and right); where as ball lifters allow the tool to turn in all directions. Don’t worry, you can proceed straight ahead – no irritating sat nav is required to reach your destination!

At half the price of hydraulic Die Lifters, the sign post is pointing to a Pneumatic Die Lifter / Die Roller. The traffic lights are on green towards SMED with a Premitec Pneumatic Die Lifter / Die Roller!

Are you still relying on a fork lift truck to load and unload tools in and out of presses and racking? If so why?

Increasing demand for diversity and smaller batch sizes makes lowering set up time / production time vital to your competitive edge and profit. Toyota realised this, made the change from fork lift to Die Cart and reaped the reward of reduced tool changeover times and costs. A Die Cart / Tool Cart from Premitec is the dynamic, up to date solution to your tool handling needs.

Die Cart / Tool Carts are far cheaper than a fork lift, yet they are capable of lifting up to double the tonne weight! Die Carts / Tool Carts can lift up to 40 tonnes, whereas fork lifts are weaklings in comparison with a maximum lift of a feeble 20 tons!

Die Carriers / Tool Carriers are also far smaller than cumbersome enormous fork lifts, making them highly manoeuvrable. The ability to rotate 90 degrees on their axis enables Die Carts / Tool Carts to operate in tight spaces, which brings the added benefit of freeing up valuable space.

The tool transporters supplied by Premitec can be manufactured according to your specific requirements. Hydraulic height adjustment of up to 800 mm on our die transporters offers the flexibility you require to load and unload from various press bed heights.

The speed and performance of battery operated Die Carriers / Tool Carriers can be easily controlled with the inbuilt diagnostic system. Personnel will require training to operate these mould carriers but unlike with fork lift truck drivers, no time or expense is involved in having to obtain a certificate.

A press tool handling Die Cart / Tool Cart from Premitec makes loading and uploading die sets from presses and storage shelves almost effortless, whilst increasing production uptime to save you time and money and enhancing Health & Safety. In other words, a Die Cart / Tool Cart is one of the SMED 10 Commandments: “Thou shalt be efficient!”

Don’t trust to luck or prayer to reduce your tool changeover times. Order a Die Cart / Tool Cart NOW by contacting Premitec on 0845 0066 210 and you’ll be beating a fork lift Goliath every time! You’ll enjoy GIANT profit margins too…!

Is your company a lean, mean production machine? Would you pass the Premitec quick changeover efficiency challenge?

The undisputed masters of quick changeover are the Formula 1 pit stop teams. Racing the stop watch, they manage to change all four tyres, refuel and adjust the suspension in around 10 seconds!

Single Minute Exchange Of Die (SMED) advice from Premitec could see your manufacturing operation work as efficiently as the Formula 1 mechanics, thanks to quick tool changing to reduce the down time in your manufacturing process. SMED is vital to any company that produces a variety of products on a single machine or production line.
Sadly SMED does not mean that all quick changeovers will only take a minute, but should take less than ten minutes – a single digit number – hence the name.

Engineer Dr Shigeo Shingo is widely acknowledged as the genius behind the quick tool changing concept of SMED. When working as a consultant to the automotive industry in the 1950’s and 60’s, he identified that lengthy tool changeover times caused production bottlenecks. The process is known as the Single Minute Exchange Of Die because when analysing production at Toyota, dies were the most difficult and time consuming tools to change. However Fredrick Winslow Taylor was the first to recognize the importance of quick tool changing and the notion of SMED. Considering his observations were made as early as the Nineteenth Century, isn’t it about time your firm caught up with his forward thinking?

Dr Shingo’s systematic analysis of production systems have made a massive contribution to modern manufacturing efficiency. SMED reduced Toyota’s tool changing process time from up to 3 days to a mere hour and a half! Toyota eventually adopted a “just in time” production model which continues to lie at the heart of their operation today.

With expert SMED quick changeover advice from Premitec, your manufacturing operation could enjoy a similar streamlining revolution! In the current economic climate, SMED is more relevant than ever, with the potential to save you time and money and so increase your profit. SMED is key to your competitive advantage, ensuring you maximise production up time and enjoy greater manufacturing flexibility to meet customer demand, whilst also improving Health & Safety!

Contact Premitec NOW on 0845 0066 210

We can’t guarantee Formula 1 glamour but we will put you on the right road to a winning performance break through…!
